Grilled Cheese Perfection with Gluten-Free French Boule

Grilled Cheese Perfection with Gluten-Free French Boule

Get ready to seriously level up your grilled cheese game with our Gluten-Free Rustic French Boule. Crisp and crackly on the outside, soft and airy on the inside, this loaf brings that classic bakery crust and tender crumb you’ve been missing in gluten-free bread. Forget everything you thought you knew about gluten-free sandwiches – this is comfort food on a whole new level.

The best part? This grilled cheese is incredibly simple to make. The clean, artisan flavor of the boule lets the melted cheese shine, while the sturdy crust toasts up beautifully without falling apart. Trust us, once you’ve had a grilled cheese on our Rustic Boule, it’s hard to go back to anything else.

Ingredients

Serves 4 people – 1 sandwich per person

  • 1 Deux Pâtes Rustic French Boule

  • Your favorite melting cheese, sliced (about 4–6 oz per sandwich), such as:

    • Sharp cheddar

    • Gruyère

    • Comté

    • Mozzarella

    • Or a blend of two cheeses

  • Butter (or ghee) for the bread

Instructions

  1. Slice the Boule
Cut the Rustic French Boule into even slices, about ½ inch thick.
  2. Prepare the Cheese
Slice your chosen cheese (or cheeses) into roughly ¼-inch slices.
  3. Assemble the Sandwiches
Lay out half of the bread slices and cover each with an even layer of cheese, leaving just a small border around the edges.
Top with the remaining slices of bread to close the sandwiches.
  4. Butter the Bread
Lightly spread butter on the outside of each sandwich (one or both sides, depending on how rich you like it).
  5. Grill the Sandwiches
Heat a pan or griddle over medium heat.
Place the sandwiches in the pan; use a grill press or another pan on top for best results (optional but highly recommended).
  6. Cook Until Golden & Melty
Grill until the bottom is golden and crisp, then flip and repeat on the other side. When the bread is deeply toasted and the cheese is melted and starting to ooze out, your grilled cheese is ready.
  7. Serve & Enjoy
Let the sandwiches rest for a minute, then slice and enjoy the perfect combo of crunchy crust and gooey, melted cheese.

Hate it when your toast or grilled cheese gets soggy underneath?
